As an established and well respected BSUPA Approved SUP School, we were delighted to be the first SUP school in Essex to bring you BSUPA Level 2 courses, 'Ready to Tour' and 'Ready to Race.' These are delivered by specially trained and experienced Level 2 BSUPA Instructors who have taken the BSUPA Course Curriculum and tailored it for local delivery.
Our 'Ready to Tour' course is split into 2 parts:
1. Theory element. This is a 2hr evening classroom session in the Maldon Little Ship Club where we look at planning short SUP tours in a variety of locations.
£25pp including course folder and tea and coffee.
2. Practical elements - a Non-Tidal Paddle and a Tidal Paddle
Once you have completed the theory element, you need to use our SUP Riders tours, our Senoritas paddles or our HUB paddles (if you are a HUB member) to find both a non-tidal and a tidal paddle to book yourself onto. We will give you a tour plan to complete prior to each paddle. You will need to come to each paddle with a completed plan (which we will keep) and all of the necessary kit. We will check your tour plan, your kit and your paddling during each paddle. If you don't have your own SUP board, you can use ours. The usual charges for our SUP Riders tours, Senoritas paddles or HUB paddles (if you are a HUB member) apply to these paddles.
The course is suitable for all levels although you do need your BSUPA Level 1 Ready to Ride Certificate and be able to paddle with confidence. Don't worry if you don't own a SUP board as we have plenty of boards that you can use on the course, including inflatable and hard touring boards. Once the theory element and both a non-tidal and a tidal paddle are completed, we will issue you with a BSUPA Level 2 Certificate.
Our fun 'Ready to Race' courses are run at the Trifarm swimming lake in Boreham. These are delivered by Anni Ridsdill Smith, an experienced SUP racer, committee member of GBSUP and BSUPA Level 2 race instructor. Don't worry if you don't own a SUP board or a race board. We have plenty of boards that you can use on the course, including 12'6 and 14' carbon race boards.
The course is suitable for all levels although you do need your BSUPA Level 1 Ready to Ride Certificate and be able to paddle with confidence. The course includes classroom theory and kit overview, and then an afternoon on the water practicing, trying kit and laughing! £60pp dates TBC
If you get the race bug, then please join our Race Team for the Club Championships at Bray Lake, the last weekend of September each year!
